The forest is dark. There's not much moonlight coming through the leaves above. I get up and see a small dim [[red light]] in the distance. Behind me is a [[dark cave]].

Dead leaves crunch under my feet as I walk. Clouds drift over the moon, making the forest too dark to see very far ahead of me, except for the growing red light.

[[go back to the cave->dark cave]] As I step into the cave the air grows colder. I put a hand to the wall to guide me. As I walk the cave decends down deeper into the ground. I hear the sound of water droplets echo quietly.
My hand falls from the wall. To my [[right->rightcave1]] there is only silence, to my [[left->leftcave1]] I hear the water droplets more clearly.
My hand finds the wall to my right. After only a couple steps, I feel the ground slope up. The silence becomes defening as I can no longer hear my footsteps, only my pounding heartbeat.

A strange blue light in the shape of an orb appears in the distance as I walk up the slope. It floats gently around the cave tunnel.
It stops a for a moment before floating away from me.

[[turn back->CaveMouth]]The cave starts to slope down as I continue, finding the wall again with my hand. It becomes wet and slippery, the sounds of water droplets grow.
Soon the cave opens up again, there's a small stream of light coming down from an opening up above. The dim moonlight reflects off a large pool of still water, small droplets of water fall from the ceiling.
The path leads on along the water line.

As I walk I realize the pool of water goes on for a while, farther than the moonlight lets me see. I can now hear a small stream of water ahead of me.
Just on the edge of where the moonlight fades into the darkness of the cave ahead of me I see something catching the light and giving off a faint shine.

I follow the slow pace of the light blue orb, it lights the walls as we go so I can see the cave floor. It turns from rock and gravel to smooth marbel and the walls now have support beams with a decorated wallpaper behind them.
The orb illuminates a door before disappearing through it, casting the hallway back into darkness

[[turn back->CaveMouth]]There's a rush of air as the door opens, inside is a room with only one candle, it's too dark to make out any details. There's the sound of a ticking clock inside.
Behind me, footsteps suddenly stop

I feel hot breath on the back of my neck and a strong intake of breath. I keep still and after a moment the breathing stops as footsteps walk back the way I came.

] After a while of walking, I find myself at the cave enterence, the dark forest just outside. There's the distant sound of water droplets. I can see the [[red light->red light]] deep in the forest.
[[return to the cave->dark cave]] I go into the room and close the door behind me. Three more candles light up out of no where, making the room more visible. There are no windows.
The room looks to be a study, with bookshelves lining the walls. There's a [[fireplace->fireplace1]] on the wall to my left, an old [[wooden door->house3]] on the wall to my right and a [[desk->desk1]] where the first candel sits. I turn slowly and feel hot breath. I look up into eyes lite up my the candle behind me, a great beast looms over. The rest of the body is hidden in darkness.
I feel my pounding heartbeat as my body starts to shake.

There is only darkness, the candle from inside the open door doesn't light the tunnel enough to see far enough. The sounds of footsteps disappears.

]I turn to run but in an instant I'm trapped. Sharp, gaint claws squeeze around me.
A $fidget[vicious laugh] seeps from the beast and echos through out the tunnel.
Pain takes over my torso and I feel hot sticky blood soak my shirt and jacket.
I look up at the terrible beast once more before succumbing to (text-colour:red)[$death[[[darkness->they win]] ]]I'm frozen as the beast sniffs the air. It shifts to the left and then to the right, looking for something. It stills, looking straight into my eyes, then turns and disappears into the darkness. The footsteps slowly quiet into silence.

[[go through the door->house2]] The journal is a thin leather bound book. I open it and flip through. The pages are blank but I can feel something written on the pages.

I take off the cap of the fountain pen and dark thick smoke comes pouring out. It fills the room and my lungs start to burn.
I start coughing violently.
My whole chest fills with pain as I can no longer take in air.
I hear a faint $fidget[childish laugh]
The room (text-colour:red)[$death[[[darkens->they win]]]] as I gasp and collapse to the floor.
]I walk to the shining object. It's an old rusted miner's lantern but no way to light it.
The sounds of running water is louder now, further into the cave, in the dark.

I follow the edge of the water, the sounds of rushing water get louder until I can hear it next to me. I keep a hand on the wall to keep me balenced and on the right track.
After a while I come to what feels like a metal door. I easily find the handle.

[[turn back->CaveMouth]] The door opens with loud scraping and creaks on loud hinges. A warm breeze comes through the open door.
There's a faint sound of someone whistling coming from deep within.

I turn around to make my way back to the cave mouth but notice something catching the light. It can't be the lantern, it's too far off the ground.

]Through the door the walls are still stone, but once in a while I bursh my hand against a wooden support beam. The whistling grows louder as I walk and I can now hear a small echo with it.
Up ahead, around a bend, there's faint orange light. It's just enough for my eyes to be able to see the cave walls. Rather than looking natural, like the start of the cave, they look mined, with support beams every fifteen feet.
As I approch the bend, just before I can see the light source, I hear the loud, scraping, creaking door way behind me close.

As I go on around the bend, the whistling suddenly stops. There's a single lantern that sits on an old crate, flickering a tiny flame. I pick up the lantern, it's low on oil so I'll have to keep the flame low. Beyond the crate, the mineshaft splits into two different directions. To the left there's the start of a small railway for a mining cart. From the right I feel cold air.

I walk slowly back to the door. I can still hear the whistling, but it's fainter.
The door is shut, I try the handle but it's as if the door is now completely scealed, it won't budge. There's no turning back now.
[[continue on farther into the cave->mine3]]The thing shifts, catching more light, revealing a gaint figure that takes up most of the path. I can just make out huge antlers atop it's head. It's breathing grows louder, echoing towards me.
It shifts again, it's coming closer.

[[run->death3]]With my heart now pounding, I turn to run through the door, but I trip.
Something's caught my leg.
I look back and can see the outline of the great antlered beast above me. It rears up.
Sharp pain pierces my chest.

The beast's pace picks up, rushing towards me.
It's right infront of me in seconds.
Sharp pain erupts in my abdomen and I feel my feet leave the ground as it picks me up, speared onto the antlers.

As I walk, the fog slowly clears away and the moonlight shines brighter through the leaves as the clouds part.
I'm able to see the source of the red light is a light on a turned over [[miner's cart->Cart1]].

I keep walking towards the red light. I glance back a couple times, the dark figure follows me but keeps just inside the fog so I can't fully see it.
I finally seem to be getting closer to the red light, but the fog is getting thicker. The red light guides me, it shines right through the fog. Off in the distance I hear a raven cry out into the night air.

]I bolt off in the direction I came from. Over my own breath I hear footsteps catching up behind me.

I run into a clearing I haven't seen before. The clouds part, letting the moon illuminate the clearing. I stop to catch my breath an look back. Standing on the edge of the tree line is the dark figure.
It's a tall, slim humanoid shape, with giant antlers. Two small ghostly pale blue eyes watch me, before backing up into the fog and darkness.

The footsteps behind me slow to a stop. I hear a quiet $fidget[laugh], then more footsteps slowly coming towards me.

I look over my shoulder, right behind me stands a tall, slim humanoid figure, smiling down at me with a deer face and giant antlers.
It reachs out, and picks me up by the throat.
My chest fills with pain, no air can reach my lungs.

I seem to go on for sometime. The forest is quiet.
I'm lost. It's too dark to find the cave where I started and there's no sight of the red light.

After a couple mintues of walking the way I ran from, I spot the red light again. It seems closer than last time...

Beyond the fireplace, through the secret door, are boards, blocking my path. Through a crack between the boards I can see a dark room, with a door opposite me with light coming from underneath it.

Chandeliers light up dimly, making the hallway visible. A grandfather clock stands against the wall, ticking loudly.
On the right side are large [[windows]], framed by giant curtains. Straight ahead, there's [[stairs->house5]] leading down. On the left side three doors line the wall with paintings of people I don't know decorating the rest of the wall.

I go to the windows and look out. It's still a dark cloudy night, the moon just barely peaking through. It seems I'm on the third floor of a large house, with a view that can see the giant expansive forest. Although I can't see far.

When I get to the bottom, there is just a hallway. There's a small table with a single candle lite. The walls have worn red wallpaper that is decorated with farmers working a field. At the end of the hall is a single (link: "door")[
As I open the door a cold breeze comes in, outside is the [[forest->outside]]
]The door is painted a pastel yellow. Next to it hangs a painting of a woman siting in a chair next to a dying fire in a small cottage, with snow falling outside. Her face is coverd by a scarf.

[[go to the stairs->house5]] As I enter, a small lantern lights itself. I can still hear the sound of the grandfather clock out in the hall. There are two small metal beds with old thin mattress, one to my right and to my left. On the opposite wall from be are wooden boards nailed into the wall, blocking something off. The wall has torn, browning wallpaper, too far gone to tell what was on it.
In the center of the room are broken shackles that are bolted to the floor. They sit on a large dried $fidget[pool of blood].
I hear faint $darkness[laughter] from where deep in the house.

I stand still, listening to the laughter, it starts getting louder, until it's right outside the door. The hall light disappears.
I turn and see a tall figure with giant antlers blocking the light. It dips its head as it enters through the doorway, careful not to get its antlers caught. It shuts to door behind it.
No longer backlite, I can see it's face, of a deformed deer, with (link-reveal:"piercing blue eyes.")[

it says in a terrible voice that hurts my ears. Something starts laughing behind me. I glance back and see another one, this one shorter and has the body of a bear but same face, with large antlers. Together they $fidget[laugh viciously].
The taller one starts walking towards me as the lantern fades, throwing us into (text-colour:red)[$death[[[darkness->they win]]]]
]I step out onto a large porch, the forest grows right up to the steps. Behind me, the door shuts, and I hear the lock click.

I start down the path on the right, it quickly starts to slope up. A cold breeze comes down through the tunnel. I soon start to hear the shifting of leaves, then see moonlight uphead.
I soon come to the exit of the mine, framed by wooden support beams. Right out side the mine is the forest, the moon gets covered by clouds, making the forest dark, but I have the lantern now to light my way.
[[enter the forest->forest3]]I follow the tracks deeper into the mine. They're old and rusted, the wood roting. They go down the slope of the mineshaft for a while, until the tunnel opens up to a larger space.
Old mining equipment reflects my small lantern light. Down here there are several [[carts->strange rocks]] that should be on the tracks but are tipped over. The tracks keep going, [[deeper->mine5]] into the darkness.The forest is cold. The lantern helps very little as a thick fog rolls in as I walk.

After a bit of walking, the red light doesn't seem to be getting any closer. A fox cries out in the distance, I glance around, off to my left a dark figure stands just inside the fog.

As I walk, I keep my eyes straight ahead on the red light, the fog is so thick it's getting hard to avoid the trees. The dark figure has disappeared into the fog, and I can no longer hear it's footsteps.

The red light starts shifting and becoming darker and smaller. The light moves up off the ground and stops just under some branches. The color changes from red, to a deep purple, and it starts to brighten up to a light blue. Another small $fidget[light blue] light slowly appears next to it...

The fog starts to part a little, just enough for me to see the dark antlered figure from before, it's pale blue eyes fixated on me.

The fog suddenly becomes so thick I can barely see my hands.

Something looms over me.
I look up at the two blue eyes suddenly looking down at me. The creature tilts it's antlered head

I turn and run. Behind me there's a horrific scream.
[[keep going->LOST?]] As I walk the flame in the lantern dies down and finally goes out. I can't see very far with all this fog.
For a moment, I think I hear a faint $fidget[laugh] behind me...

Through the fog I see two small pale blue lights appear.
The thing steps closer and I can see it's slim towering figure with giant antlers atop it's head.

Then rushes towards me and lifts me up by my throat.

I take the brooch out, it vibrates in my hand and starts cracking, the red glowing brighter.
It suddenly shatters and cuts into my hand. I drop it, my hand now shaking with pain.
The green rock in my other hand starts to pulse with a pale [[blue light->death?2]]

The rock in my hand turns from green to pale blue.

I fall to my knees.
I feel something shift, deep down. I grasp the rock tighter and I feel the change start. An excruciating pain takes over my body as my bones snap and regrow. My skin tears and restitches it's self. Blood soaks the forest floor beneath me.

I walk on for a little longer before I start hearing water droplets again. My lantern flickers out, leaving me in the dark but I [[push on->death11]]
]I pick up one of the rocks and bring it to the lantern. Underneath some grim, the rock has a shine to it.
I hear footsteps coming down the tunnel from where I came.

[[run->death10]]I get up and start running but something quickly catches me and pulls me down. I drop the lanterm

The beast looming over me snarls. In the dim lantern light I can see it's body is of a bear and it's head from an elk. It's eyes are pale icy blue. It lifts it's hand and plunges down it's claws into my chest.

]Only after a couple steps I see a little light coming from the tunnel ceiling. As I walk over I suddenly lose my footing and fall.
Sharp pain takes over my body as I crash into a cold pool of water. I try to swim up, but my arms and legs feel to heavy to move.
Something grabs my leg and pulls me further deep into the (text-color:red)[$death[[[darkness->they win]]]]. The light from above disappearsI put out the lantern and hide behind one of the carts. I hear something enter the room and sniff around. A couple moments pass before the thing goes back.
